CENTRAL UUSIMAA JOB MARKET
The annual Central Uusimaa Job Market is a circulating recruiting event, organised by the Central Uusimaa Partnership in co-operation with the local employment offices, municipalities and employers. The first Market was arranged in Kerava, in March 1998 and the next Job Market will be arranged in February 2007 in Järvenpää.
A SUCCESSFUL MODEL
The first event in Kerava in 1998 was a success. During the course of the day, employers who for months had had problems in recruiting met up with about 2100 motivated jobseekers. The Market created a new, relaxing and efficient contact forum for participants. All in all, 30-40 new employment contracts were signed. The feedback was extremely positive. The Job Market has found its role as an effective means of supplementing existing services. The event has been recognised as a new, high-profile way to recruit people.
BASIC OBJECTIVE - MATCHING
The basic objective of the event is to create a new alternative for employers and jobseekers to meet each other. The Job Market brings together about 30-50 employers, employment offices, training institutes and other service providers and 3000-4000 job seekers.
It also provides a forum for training institutes, together with employers, to distribute information about the latest job demands. Jobseekers have the possibility to identify their needs when updating their professional skills. Contacts created between education institutes and employers can also lead to apprenticeships and new training opportunities.
ORGANISATION, COSTS AND FINANCING
The Job Market is organised by the Central Uusimaa Partnership network and it is a part of the Partnership + project, which is funded by European SocialFund . The joint team rents the premises, the necessary equipment, organises the information spots, hires the speakers and artists, and takes care of the marketing. The event is well advertisedin newspapers, radio, etc.
The total budget, including the time for preparation, location of premises, marketing etc. is today about EUR 19 000. The costs are paid by the labour authorities, the local municipalities, Central Uusimaa Partnership and the employers.
